The First Yes: How the Garden Room Set the Tone for the Greencrest Collection

The First Yes: How the Garden Room Set the Tone for the Greencrest Collection

I truly did not expect this moment to happen so soon.

When we planned our first visit to Greencrest, the goal was simple: observe, listen, and learn. This was never meant to be a decision-making trip. I wanted it to feel like an open-ended conversation, a chance to understand Jenn’s taste, instincts, and emotional connection to the manor before ever suggesting direction.

But sometimes, a space makes the decision for you.

A Room Filled With Meaning

We were standing in the Garden Room when Jenn began sharing what this space represents to her.

On wedding mornings, it’s often where she finds the father of the bride quietly preparing his speech. It’s peaceful. Light-filled. A place where nerves soften before the day truly begins.

Sunlight pours through the windows, creating a calm, hopeful feeling that’s hard to describe unless you’re standing there yourself.

When Jenn first took ownership of Greencrest, this room was painted sage green. Over time, she chose to brighten it completely, spraying it white to let the natural light take center stage. Today, the room is styled simply with plants, greenery, a brown leather sofa, and woven seating. It’s beautiful as is, but there was a sense that it could hold more story.

Not more decoration. More depth.

Our First Visit Was About Discovery, Not Decisions

We arrived with an armful of wallpaper samples. Truly dozens.

Large-scale florals. Soft patterns. Muted palettes. Rich tones. Styles ranging from academic and moody to light, romantic, and collected. The intention wasn’t to narrow things down, but to pay attention.

What made Jenn linger?
What felt natural to her?
What did she instantly dismiss?

This first visit was about learning her visual language, not steering it.

The Sample That Changed Everything

Then one design emerged, and the room shifted.

Jenn’s reaction was immediate and emotional. There was no back-and-forth. No hesitation. Just a quiet certainty that this was it.

The wallpaper featured delicate florals that echoed the gardens outside, birds that felt alive but not busy, and a soft blue background that naturally tied back to Greencrest’s identity. Hints of yellow and warm rust tones mirrored what already existed in the room through pillows and accents.

What made this moment special was that nothing else needed to change.

The furniture stayed.
The styling stayed.
The room stayed itself.

The wallpaper didn’t replace anything. It simply belonged.

Designing With the Seasons in Mind

One of the reasons this wallpaper felt so right was its ability to move effortlessly through the year.

It felt grounded enough for fall, fresh enough for spring, lively for summer, and cozy during winter. That mattered deeply for a space used throughout every season.

This wasn’t about creating a moment. It was about creating longevity.

Choosing Peel and Stick With Intention

For the Garden Room, peel and stick wallpaper was the clear choice.

The walls were ideal, the light was consistent, and the flexibility made sense for a space that sees so much activity. It allowed us to deliver a finished, elevated look without compromising practicality.

Function mattered just as much as beauty here.

Why This Early Decision Mattered So Much

Leaving our first visit with a wallpaper already chosen felt unexpected, but incredibly grounding.

There was no pressure to decide. No timeline pushing us forward. Yet this one decision gave us clarity. It revealed what Jenn was drawn to and why. The balance of negative space. The softness of the florals. The quiet movement within the pattern.

All of that became guidance for what came next.

Letting the First Yes Lead the Way

That first yes didn’t just define the Garden Room. It set the emotional tone for the entire collection.

It reminded us that the strongest design decisions don’t need justification. They simply feel right.

As we moved into the design phase and prepared for our second visit, this wallpaper became our anchor. A reminder to listen closely, design thoughtfully, and trust the process.

Sometimes one clear yes is enough to move everything forward.

And for the Greencrest Collection, that moment happened right here.
